We hope you've been enjoying speaking on Hilokal and making progress in your language learning journey. Creating your own table in Hilokal gives you much more control over your experience. You can customize the table settings, visibility, language, level, and also get user moderation tools.
How do I create my own table in Hilokal?
To create your own table, click "create a table" from the home page of the mobile app or the + button from the web app. You can quickly start your table by clicking 'start now' and it will open a public table titled, "Let's talk in [Your target language]". But you can edit this on table settings.
Table visibility
On the main create page, you can change your table's visibility and cafe settings. Cafes are mini-communities within Hilokal. If you belong to a cafe, you can select it from the cafe drop-down list. The 'type' setting changes the visibility of your table. If you choose 'open' everyone in the app, or everyone in the cafe you've chosen can see your table. If you choose 'closed', then your table is only visible to cafe members or people you invite.

Additionally, you can click 'Edit language, time, etc..' to see more table settings. From this settings page, you can change the target language and level of the table. You can also edit the description to let people know what they can expect from this table. You can schedule your table for a future dates. Finally, you can invite mutual friends you've met along the way and they will be alerted by push notification about your scheduled table.
As table host, if you kick users who are misbehaving at your table, your table will become invisible to them and they cannot rejoin. Make sure to read the community guidelines to know if you need to report any users.
