What are beans used for?
The primary use of beans is to tip your language partners, table hosts and class trainers to show your appreciation.
And...
Beans can be withdrawn as real money! But only 'trainers' have this privilege. With every update, Hilokal makes bigger and better features that make use of your beans.
How can I become a trainer?
As a host, if you earn enough beans, you can become a trainer. You can apply to be a Hilokal trainer from your my page in the mobile app or from the trainer application page.
How do I give or receive beans?
At a table, you can send beans to the host by tapping the 'gift icon'. You can also receive beans from your guests and students the same way. You can send beans with a thoughtful message or a cute emoji! You can also send the bean donation anonymously.
Upon sending or receiving beans, you'll hear the sound of spilling beans. It's always best to show your appreciation for receiving beans, "Hey! Thanks!".
You can also send beans directly to anyone on the app by clicking on their profile and gift them beans.
How do I withdraw beans as cash?
As mentioned, only trainers can withdraw beans as cash. These are the trainers who have put in the hours, and have proven themselves with real, valuable, educational content.
After you've become a trainer by completing the orientation and onboarding steps, you can go to your trainer dashboard and then tap the 'withdraw beans' button and then complete the steps. Just note that you'll need to have a minimum of 3000 beans before you can request a withdrawal.
