How can I control my experience on Hilokal?
Hilokal is first and foremost a language learning app focused on speaking, and we want to make sure that everyone has a positive and safe experience. In order to maintain a positive community, we've given you the power to control your interactions on Hilokal by blocking, kicking and reporting any user on Hilokal.
How do I block someone on Hilokal?
If you don't want to interact with someone, you can block them. Simply tap their profile, and then tap the three dots in the top right corner and tap block. Their profile will immediately be blurred. After blocking a user, they will no longer be able to:
- direct message you
- see or join tables you've created
If you're in a table hosted by someone else, when this blocked user enters the table, you'll be notified, "A user you have blocked has enter the table. Would you like to stay?". Similarly, if you join a table where there is someone you've blocked in the past, you will be given an alert pop up so you can decide if you want to enter the table or not.
How do I kick someone from a table?
As a host or co-host, you have the ability to kick someone from a table. If you kick someone from a table, they won't be able to see your table or be invited back in.
How do I report someone on Hilokal?
If someone is violating our community guidelines, you can report them. If you haven't read our community guidelines you should do that right now!
To report someone click the 3 dot menu from the top right of a user profile to report them. You'll be given a list of reasons and the ability to write some notes of why you are reporting this user. It's best to give as much detail as you can when reporting a user.
What happens when I report someone on Hilokal?
Our community management team reviews reports multiple times every day, and they will take action if necessary. Please keep in mind that over reporting or unfairly mobbing users with reports can lead to being removed from Hilokal's platform, so you should only report when someone is really breaking Hilokal's community guidelines.
We've provided you with the tools to control your interactions on Hilokal. Whether it's blocking someone, kicking them from a table, or reporting them for violating our community guidelines, you have the power to shape your experience on Hilokal.
