Welcome to Hilokal! Our goal is to keep Hilokal a fun, positive, and welcoming place for everyone to practice languages and connect with people around the world. To do that, we ask all users to follow these guidelines.

1. Be Respectful

Hilokal is a diverse, global community. Everyone comes from different cultures, languages, and backgrounds — that’s what makes it so special!

  • Be respectful, even if you disagree with someone.
  • Avoid offensive, inappropriate, or divisive topics, such as sex, drugs, and political or religious controversies.
  • Treat others how you’d like to be treated.

2. Be Inclusive

Hilokal is for everyone. We encourage open-mindedness and understanding.

  • Respect different cultures, opinions, and identities.
  • Embrace learning from others — even if they think or speak differently from you.

3. Give and Take

Hilokal works best when everyone both learns and contributes.

  • Ask questions, practice your language, and join conversations — but also help others when you can.
  • If you’re fluent in a language, share your knowledge and help others improve.
  • Respect the flow of conversations — don’t interrupt, dominate, or take over tables.

Community Rules

To keep Hilokal safe and positive for everyone, these actions are not allowed:

1. Disruptive Behavior

  • Making excessive noise (like loud music, shouting, or disruptive background sounds).
  • Constantly interrupting others or speaking over them.
  • Intentionally preventing others from speaking or participating.

2. Spam

  • Sending repetitive or unwanted messages.
  • Promoting products, services, or personal accounts outside of appropriate spaces.
  • Repeatedly promoting religious beliefs or recruitment efforts.
  • Asking for personal information (addresses, passwords, financial details) without a clear and appropriate reason.

3. Harassment & Abuse

  • Insulting, intimidating, or repeatedly targeting someone.
  • Discriminating based on nationality, race, gender, sexuality, religion, or any personal identity.
  • Spreading harmful rumors or encouraging others to target someone.
💡 Honest, respectful discussions about culture and religion are allowed, but trying to convert others or creating tension is not.

4. Illegal Activities

  • Discussing illegal activities (hacking, drug sales, etc.).
  • Sharing methods for committing crimes.
  • Revealing someone’s personal information without their consent (this is called doxxing and is strictly prohibited).

5. Fraud & Misinformation

  • Spreading false information to mislead the community.
  • Filing false reports to target other users.
  • Pretending to be someone else (impersonation).

6. Unauthorized Recording

  • Recording audio from Hilokal without permission from all participants.
  • Sharing recorded conversations publicly without consent.

Consequences

Violating these guidelines can result in actions such as:

  • Warnings — A chance to correct your behavior.
  • Temporary Suspensions — Timeouts from chat or voice activities for more serious violations.
  • Permanent Bans — For repeated violations or severe misconduct.
  • Legal Action — If illegal activities occur, we may notify the appropriate authorities.

We review reports carefully and take action based on evidence — not just accusations.

What Should You Do If Someone Breaks the Rules?

  • Report them using Hilokal’s reporting tools.
  • Block them to prevent further contact.
  • If you’re in a live table and can’t remove them, leave the table and join or create another one.

We’re committed to making Hilokal a safe, welcoming place for language learners around the world. Thanks for doing your part to help!
