Time Expressions

N후에 /V(으)ㄴ후에 Means "after a certain period of time" or "after some action" and corresponds to "after/later". When attaching to the verbs, ㄴ 후에 is added when the stem ends with a vowel, 은후에 is added when the stem ends in a consonant. When the stem ends in ㄹ, ㄹ is deleted and ㄴ 후에 is added to the remaining of the stem. -ㄴ 다음에 can be also used in place of -ㄴ 후에. -한달 후에 아기가 태어나요. -밥을 먹은 후에 이를 닦아요. -대학교 졸업 후에 취직을 했어요(대학교를 졸업한 후에 취직을 했어요). N전에 /V기 전에 Means "before a certain period of time" or "before some action" and corresponds to "before/ago". "N전에" is mainly used with nouns to which 하다 can be added to make verbs. For this reason 기 전에 can be added to the correspondent verb stem to produce the same meaning(식사 전에/ 식사하기 전에). However for all the verbs other than 하다, only 기 전에 can be used. -2년 전에 한국에 왔어요. -삭사 전에 이 약을 드세요. -수영하기 전에 준비운동을 해요. Conversation A 같이 점심식사해요. B 미안해요. 1시간 전에 식사했어요. A 한국에서는 결혼하기 전에 남자가 집을 준비해요.
