LESSON # 12 of Chapter # 5.
Summary of Verses (87-93) of Chapter # 5 Surah Al Ma'idah:
These verses emphasize that believers should not forbid what Allah has made lawful, and they should consume lawful and pure things. The expiation for breaking an oath is outlined, and believers are urged to avoid intoxicants, gambling, and idolatry, as these lead to enmity and distraction from the remembrance of Allah. Believers are commanded to obey Allah and the Messenger and to be cautious and those who maintain righteousness will not be blamed for past actions before the prohibitions were revealed.
Overall it describes obedience to Allah, the importance of lawful behavior, the dangers of certain prohibited actions, and the concept of atonement and forgiveness.
