References from Qur'aan & from Bible; Verse # 243 1- (See verse # 216.) (2:216) Fighting is ordained upon you and it is disliked by you; it may well be that you dislike a thing even though it is good for you, and it may well be that you like a thing even though it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know. 2- (See Chapter-5, Verse # 20) (5:20) Remember when Moses said to his people: 'My people, remember Allah's favour upon you when He raised Prophets amongst you and appointed you rulers, and granted to you what He had not granted to anyone else in the world. 42. This refers to the glory the Israelites enjoyed before the time of Moses. There had appeared among them such great Prophets as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. Moreover, from the time of Joseph they were able to achieve very considerable power and authority in Egypt. For a considerable period they were the greatest rulers of the civilized world, reigning supreme in Egypt and the surrounding territories. People are generally inclined to regard the time of Moses as the starting point for the rise of the Israelites. The Qur'an, however, states categorically that the truly glorious period of their history had passed long before Moses, and that Moses himself drew the attention of his people to that period as their time of glory. Verse # 246 References from Bible; 3- (1 Samuel 7: 15; 8: 4-22.) 4- (1 Samuel 12: 6-23). Verse # 247 References from Bible; 5- (1 Samuel 9: 2). 6- (1 Samuel 10: 1). 7- (1 Samuel 10: 17). Verse # 248 References from Bible; 9- (1 Samuel 5-6 - Ed.) 10- (Hebrews 9: 2 ff - Ed.) 11- (Hebrews 9: 5 mentions the rod of Aaron - Ed.)

Summary: In these verses, Allah recounts the story of a group of Israelites who questioned the selection of a king to lead them in battle. Allah granted their request but tested them with a river, instructing them not to drink from it. Most of them failed this test, leaving only a few steadfast individuals. The passage highlights the importance of obedience to Allah's commands and the consequences of failing such tests. Additionally, it emphasizes that guidance comes from Allah, and those who reject it face difficulties. To recapitulate, these verses serve as a lesson in the value of obedience to Allah and the importance of following His guidance without questioning. They also underscore the concept of divine tests and the rewards or consequences that follow.
