LESSON # 5 of Chapter # 8.
Summary of Verses (38-44) of Chapter # 8 Surah Al Anfal:
Here are the short summary points from the verses of Surah Al-Anfal:
1. Forgiveness for Desisting from Evil:
- If the disbelievers cease their mischief, their past wrongdoings will be forgiven.
- If they return to their previous ways, they will face the consequences similar to those who perished before them.
2. Purpose of War – Eradicating Mischief & Establishing Obedience to Allah:
- Muslims are required to fight to end mischief and establish the obedience to Allah, not for worldly gains or personal reasons.
- War should only be fought for these noble purposes, and anything outside this is unlawful.
3. Protection from Allah:
- If the enemy turns away from the path of righteousness, the believers should know that Allah is their Protector and Helper.
4. Distribution of Spoils of War:
- One-fifth of war spoils belongs to Allah, the Prophet, his family, orphans, the needy, and travelers.
- The remaining four-fifths are for the soldiers who fought.
- The Prophet ensured complete honesty and transparency in the distribution, emphasizing that no spoils should be taken in secret.
- The share of Allah and the Prophet should be used to further the cause of Islam and support those in need.
5. Provision for the Prophet's Family:
- A portion of the spoils (one-fifth) was allocated for the Prophet’s family to provide for their financial needs, as he was solely dedicated to the mission of Islam.
- After the Prophet’s death, there are differing views on who should receive this portion, with some jurists saying it should go to his family, while others believe it should be given to the poor among them.
6. Support from Allah in Battle:
- Allah’s help brought victory to the Muslims in their encounters, including the Battle of Badr.
7. Divine Wisdom in the Battle of Badr:
- Allah orchestrated the encounter at Badr, where the Muslims were positioned in a way that led them to victory, despite initial uncertainties about the enemy's strength.
- The vision of the enemy being few in number helped boost the Muslims’ morale and resolve to fight, showing Allah's wisdom and control over all matters.
8. Perception and Divine Assistance in Battle:
- During the battle, Allah made the enemy appear small in the eyes of the Muslims and vice versa, leading to a decisive victory as it was Allah’s will.
- This further highlights that all decisions and matters ultimately belong to Allah.
