Simple Tenses Review

SIMPLE TENSES REVIEW ☆The tense of a verb is determined by when the action took place. 😀 Simple Present Tense ❓What? -> Used to describe an action that is regular, true or normal ♻️Use: 1. For repeated/regular actions E.g. Michael sleeps eight hours each night. I brush my teeth twice a day. 2. For facts/permanent ideas E.g. A dog has four legs. Christmas day is celebrated on December 25th. 3. For habits/routines E.g. They travel to their vacation home every weekend. They have a barbecue every Saturday. 4. For things that are always/generally true E.g. It snows a lot in winter. 🤔 Simple Past Tense ❓ What is it? -> Used to describe an action or event that has taken place/happenned and is finished/now over. ♻️Uses 1. Express the recent past E.g. We visited Rome yesterday. 2. Expressed with/without time expression E.g. Samuel called last week/yesterday. I prepared lunch. 3. Expresses the distant past E.g. She lived in Paris a long time ago. 4. Expresses one action E.g. She talked to her manager. 5. Expresses many actions E.g. 😟Simple Future Tense ❓What is it? ->used to express an action that will occur or happen in the future. ->refers to a time later than now, and expresses facts or certainty. ♻️Uses 1. Used to give information about facts or events of certainty. E.g. It will rain tommorrow. James will be 25 years old next year. 2. Used to give a warning E.g. The dog will bite you. You will be grounded. You will hurt yourself. 3. Used to take a spontaneous decision E.g. You dropped your wallet. I'll get it for you. There is no rice in the pantry. I will go to the store to buy some rice. 4. Used to express readiness E.g. I will do it. I will work. I will go. 5. Used to express willingness/to volunteer E.g. I will send you the information when I get it. I will give you a call when he gets back Will you help me love this table? In 2022, I will volunteer at an orphanage. 6. Make suggestions using "shall". 'Shall' is not widely used in spoken English. It is used in formally written articles or legal documents. E.g  Shall I open the window/blinds? Shall we go to the cinema tonight? 7. Used to give an invitation or order someone E.g. Will you come to the dance with me? Will you marry me? You will do exactly as I say! You will turn in your assignment on Monday by 5:00 PM. 8. To make confident predictions/more uncertain ones E.g. I think our team will win the baseball game. 2022 will be an interesting year. I think he will pass his exams this time. If he wins the election, John Smith will be the next president. If her song is well received by the Committee, Adele will win another Grammy this year. 9. Ask questions about the future E.g. Will the grinch discover the meaning of Christmas? Will he pirates find the treasure? 10. Used to express a promise E.g. I will call you when I arrive. I promise, I will keep this a secret. Don't worry.
