How to Be More Confident
Confident People Take Action Despite of Fearđ
Be Confident & Believe In Yourself
Undeniably, confidence and self-assurance are surely one of the most common traits of successful people. This superpower, alone, can boost oneâs life to its highest peak. The courage to speak up, the determination to take action, the strong endurance of painâŠ
Sound badass, right?
The sureness of oneself, and the confidence of believing âI will make itâ will definitely and extremely helpful when hardship and adversity rise up.
If you have the confidence to make it happen and you donât let up and donât give up, then for sure, it will happen. â Clark Kegley
Thatâs why, in this article, Iâll share four of the most common habits that confident people have that will help you gain more confidence and be more productive.
1. Removing Your Own Limiting Beliefđ
Trust Yourself
Have you ever heard the phrase that says âSometimes, you are your own worst enemy.â
Most of the time, itâs your own negative self-talk that is stopping you from reaching your true potential. Your so-called âshadowâ creeps in when something sparks your heart within and inspires you to follow the path you feel is right. You say things to yourself like:
âI want to do it, but my parents canât support me.â
âI want to try it out, but I donât think Iâm that good.â
âI wish to go out there, but Iâm not talented enough.â
The truth is you can do it. You have the absolute power to achieve it. No circumstances can draw you back and beat you down. The only thing preventing you from that goal of yours is you yourself.
Get rid of that âshadowâ. Eliminate negative self-talk. Hold your head high and start chasing.
2. Ditch perfectionistâs mindsetđ
Avoid Perfectionism
When it comes to showing our work to the public, we often try to get to the best, and the âperfectâ form of our work. We tend to polish it for weeks and months, but the work doesnât seem to reach our perfect standard.
People thrive to be âperfectâ, but underneath its glittering surface, there are fears of rejections, denials, and failures.
Contrary to most peopleâs beliefs, perfectionism is just an illusory form of the fear of making mistakes and failure.
The big problem with perfectionism is that you procrastinate on and on and never get to the end because you think you could do things better.
You have to keep in mind that the work you create now will always be of lower quality than the work youâre able to create in the future. You canât possibly be perfect at the start.
You will slowly be building your skill and become better in due course.
So, donât try to be âperfectâ at the beginning. Start your work and, boldly, share your work with the public. This is the right way to become better and more skillful at your work and eventually become confident at it.
3. Doing something even if you donât think you are readyđ
Have an Action-First Mindset
We often try to search for so much information; to get ourselves âreadyâ to pursue our desired goals and dreams â itâs one of the sneakiest forms of procrastination out there.
The trouble comes when you are obsessively trying to gather more and more information without starting on doing the actual thing. You feel like you are progressing, but in fact, youâre not even close to it.
Yes, itâs important to start off knowing the fundamentals of it, but researching shouldnât be taking too much time. After done researching, action must be taken on what youâve learned â not gathering more information.
Thereâs also one deteriorating factor of it: the more information you gather, the more contradicting advice youâll find, the more different options and strategies youâll discover, and the more examples youâll find of the risks and failure
This information overload can increase your stress level and anxiety, or even worse, it could even make your goals and objectives more complex than they need to be.
Thereâs no better alternative than real-life experience. This exact experience can consolidate your knowledge and give us clarification.
Now, Iâm not saying preparing is bad. I still have to contemplate when it comes to certain activities. But, Iâd recommend doing this parallel to taking action in the real world so that youâll feel more confident about it.
4. Stop Overthinkingđ
Worrying Doesnât Help You
Itâs natural for all of us to think before we act. However, if you passed the limit, thinking becomes overwhelming and daunting. Unnecessary anxieties and worries increase and that makes you less confident about the thing you want to do.
Research has shown that 85% of the things we worry about never happen.
So, stop worrying and thinking too much. You canât change the future by worrying. Instead, be confident, and try the best you can in the present.
You canât change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future. â Isak Dinesan
Now that Iâve shared these tips with you, itâs up to you now. Iâm certain one of the habits Iâve mentioned above will boost your overall productivity and confidence.
