Quotation~

For declarative verb negation same plain or quotation used 는다고 하다 just like what we used for active verb in positive statements. Positive statements Verb stem+ㄴ/는다고 하다 먹+는다고 했다 I said I eat 공부하+ㄴ다고 했다👉공부한다고 했다 I said I study Negation Veeb stem +지 않+는다고 하다 먹+"지 않"+는다고 했다 I said I don't eat 공부하+"지 않"+는다고 했어요 I said I "don't" study 공부하+지 않+을 거라고 하다(future tense) For adjective,same whether it is positive or negation or whether the adjective stem ends with vowel or consonant just directly attach 다고 하다(no need ㄴ/는 before 다고 하다) Positive Adjective stem+다고 하다 예쁘+다고 했다 I said I'm pretty 날씨가 덥+다고 했다 I said the weather is hot Negation Adjective stem+지 않+다고 하다 예쁘+"지 않"+다고 했다 I said I'm "not" pretty 날씨가 덥+"지 않"+다고 했다 I said the weather is "not" hot

Note that for negation we can also used 안 instead of 지 않다 for declarative.지 않다 is attached to the verb stem whether the verb is native korean verbs(e.g., 먹+지 않다) or Chinese characters(공부하+지 않다) but for 안 if we used it to negate native korean verb/Adjective and Adjective that ends with 하다 it should come before the verb/Adjective(e.g.,안+먹다) thus the negation in quotation will be 👉안👈+ 먹는다고 하다.Meanwhile,if we used 안 negation with Chinese character verb(all verb with 하다) 안 should be in between of Noun and 하다 verb(e.g., 공부 👉안 👈하다,thus,the negation form in quotation statement will be 공부 안 한다고 하다.
