LOVE ISN'T Making another feel like the lesser Manipulation filled with guilt tripping Hurting your partner just to feel better Blaming the other each time you're slipping LOVE ISN'T Making your partner question their worth Lying or being unfaithful All of these things you do not deserve Nor a partner that is ungrateful LOVE ISN'T Walking on eggshells afraid to say the wrong thing Tiptoeing around your own house Constantly worried about your partners drinking These things do not make a spouse! LOVE ISN'T Having a partner that can't read your body language Even knowing you've dealt with trauma Adding to the pain and causing more baggage Everyday adding to your drama LOVE ISN'T Trying to take your partner down with you When they're working hard to recover Being made to question all the things you do These are not the ways of a lover LOVE ISN'T Blaming your partner for the choices you make Constantly causing more stress And putting everything at stake While your partner gets no rest LOVE ISN'T Saying you'll change without taking action Continuing to cause hope, only to take it away Hurting your partner for your own satisfaction Repeating over and over and over each day © Janelle Erin Elizabeth Peters all rights reserved 2021
