의 particle briefly explained

의 particle 의 is a possessive particle. it’s the same thing as adding an apostrophe and an s after a word to mark a possession or ownership of something. (‘s) Note: The pronunciation of the letter “ㅢ” can change depending on how and when it is used. for example: - 엄아의 커피 = my mom’s coffee - 우리 언니의 책 = my older sister’s book (언니 is only used by women/girls to address a female older than them or older sister) - 나의 남자친구 = my boyfriend. - 나의 친구가 정말 예뻐요 = my friend is really pretty. - 아빠의 차 = my dad’s car - 우리 남동생의 장난감 = my younger brother’s toys. - 우리 여동생의 핸드폰 = my younger sister’s phone. You can even add ‘의’ after 누구 (who) to make ‘누구의’ (whose)! Examples: * 누구의 집 (whose house) * 누구의 가방 (whose bag) ** ‘s is not added to pronouns like I, you, he, she and they. Instead, the words my, your, his, her and their are used.
