Part 2: Warm Bodies: Movie Script

24. R: /Oh, no. Stop staring. You're acting weird again./ /R gives Julie a bottle of beer./ Julie: "Thank you. Oh, my God. Oh, man. I can't remember the last time I had a beer. I guess you can't be all that bad, Mr. Zombie." R: "My name..." Julie: "You have a name? What is your name?" R: "Rrrrrrrrrrr.." Julie: "Rrrr?" R: /This date is not going well. I want to die all over again./

25. R: "Rrrrrrr..." Julie: "Does your name start with "R"? Robert? Richard? Randy? Raphael? Ricardo? Why don't I just call you "R"? I mean, that's a start, right?" R: "R..." Julie: "I want to go home, R." R: "It's n-not safe." Julie: "I get that. And look... I know that you saved my life. And I'm grateful for that. But you walked me into this place. So I know that you can walk me out again. R: /Oh, no. She can't leave. She just got here./

26. R: /Tell her she has to wait. Tell her they'll notice./ R: "H... h... have to wait. They... They'll notice." /Huh. Not bad./ Julie: "How long?" R: "F... f... few d... days. Th... they'll f... forget. Y... y... you'll be o-kay." Julie: "Are there others like you? I mean, I've... I've never ever heard a Corpse talk before. I mean, apart from the groaning. Okay. A few days, huh? What am I supposed to do for a few days around here anyway?"

27. (They go for a drive. Julie drives the car.) Julie: "This is awesome! You wanna try? Oh, God! Oh! You're a leadfoot. Okay. Okay. Pick a foot. You're using two feet. Pick one foot... There you go. Okay... There you go. All right. Two hands on the wheel, buddy." /R hits another car while he drives/ Julie: "Jesus, R! This was a beautiful car! (They go back inside the plane. Julie checks the things in the plane.) Julie: "What's with all the vinyl? Couldn't figure out how to work an iPod?" R: "Better s... sound." Julie: "Oh, you're a purist, huh?" R: "More alive."

28. Julie: "Yeah. That's true. Lot more trouble, though." (R shrugs his shoulder.) Julie: "There you go again. Shrugging. Stop shrugging, shrugger. It's a very non-committal gesture." (R shrugs his shoulder again.) Julie: "Really? These are really cool records. How did you get all these?" R: "I collect things." Julie: "Yeah, I can see that. You, my friend, are a hoarder. Man, there's this awesome record store on Main and Ivy. You would love it. It's so cool. Was so cool. Alrighty. Much better." (Julie chooses a song and it plays out loud. R admires Julie's beauty as she dances with the song. And they enjoy their time together.)

29. Julie: "R? Can I ask you something? My boyfriend, he died back there. Will he come back? As one of you?" /R shakes his head side to side/ Julie: "That's good, I guess. Something happened to him. A lot of things happened to him. But I guess there just came a point where he couldn't absorb any more. It's just, in my world, people die all the time. So... You know, it's not like I'm not sad that he's gone. Because I am. But I think I've been preparing for it for a really long time." /R walks away because he feels guilty./

30. (AT NIGHT) He sees Julie asleep... R: Man, it must be nice to sleep. I wish I could. I wish I could dream. But that's not really an option for me. The dead don't dream. This is as close as we get.

31. (He sees a flash back of Perry's life and becomes more guilty for killing him.) (LATER THAT NIGHT) /Julie has a saw with her and starts attacking the zombie pack of R to desperately escape...R punches his bestfriend, attacks other zombies and protects Julie./ Julie: "You said a few days. It's been a few days, R. I have to go home." R: "S... stay t... together. Safe." /The rest of the zombies realize Julie is human and has to be eaten but R disagrees. The Boneys arrive. Julie runs far with R. R's bestfriend comes to help suddenly but Julie is still angry at him for attempting to attack her, who his human. R and Julie continues escaping. Julie drives the car until they find some shelter elsewhere./

32. Julie: "Jesus, I'm freezing. I have to pull over. This is one of the last neighborhoods my dad evacuated. Maybe these houses have food. Okay, come on. Oh, man. It's locked." /R kicks the front door./ Julie: "Oh, God. Oh, cool! Look what they have. I haven't seen one of these in forever. Cheese!" /Julie takes a polaroid photo of R./ Julie: "It's all right. See? Yeah. It's important to preserve memories, you know? Especially now that the world is on its way out. Everything you see, you may be seeing for the last time. Perry used to say that. Here. Take a picture."

33. /R takes a picture of Julie. He reads a magazine later on./ Julie: "I'm exhausted. The bed actually isn't too rotten, so I'm gonna go to sleep. Good night.... " /She heads upstairs and goes back down the staircase./ Julie: "...R?" R: "Y... yeah?" Julie: "I was... I was thinking... You know, you could sleep in there if you want. On the floor. These houses creep me out, so... Okay." /Two of R's zombie friends slowly turn human as their hearts start to beat./

34. Later that night, Julie peeks through the window. Julie: "Hey, look up this street. That's my dad..." /R goes closer./ Julie: "Get back! He would have killed you. If he saw you, he would have just shot you in the head, and you'd just be gone." (LATER THAT NIGHT) Julie: "These clothes are soaking still. I'm gonna lay them out to dry. Hey, Do you have to eat people?" R: "Y... yeah." Julie: "Or you'll die?" R: " Yeah."

35. Julie: "But you didn't eat me. You rescued me. Like, a bunch. It must be hard being stuck in there. You know, I can see you trying. Maybe that's what people do. You know, we try to be better. Sometimes we kind of suck at it. But I look at you and you try so much harder than any human in my city. You're a good person, R." R: "Anyway. It was me." Julie: "What was you?" Oh. I mean, I... I guess I kind of knew that." R: "Y... you did?" Julie: "Yeah, I... I guess I hoped that you didn't. I'm sorry." R: "Julie... I'm so s-sorry. Julie..." /R falls asleep and has a dream./

36. /R wakes up the next day and Julie is gone and left./ R: "So much for dreaming. You can't be whatever you want. All I'll ever be is a slow, pale, hunched-over, dead-eyed zombie. What did I think was gonna happen? That she'd actually want to stay with me? It's hopeless. This is what I get for wanting more. I should just be happy with what I had. Things don't change. I need to accept that. It's easier not to feel. Then I wouldn't have to feel like this."

37. /She drives and runs out of gas. She walks further till she finds Kevin armed with a gun pointing towards her./ Kevin: "Identify yourself!" Julie: "It's just me, Kevin. It's okay. I'm fine." Kevin: "Just stop right there." Julie: "It's okay. I'm not infected." Kevin: "I said stop, Julie!" Julie: "Okay. Fine. Fine." Kevin: "Let me check you out." /Her result comes as clear - not infected./

38. General Grigio: "Is she okay?" Kevin: "Clear, sir." Julie: "Hi, Dad." General Grigio: "I sent a half a dozen units out looking for you. Nora said you were taken into..." Julie: "Yeah, I was. But I escaped. I was holed up in a house in the suburbs and then I found a car, so I came here." General Grigio: "Julie, are you sure nothing bit you?" Julie: "Do I look infected to you, Dad?" General Grigio: "We have to be safe." Julie: "Yeah, I know. I know. I'm fine, though. I promise." General Grigio: "I thought I lost you." Julie: "Well, you didn't, Dad. I'm here." General Grigio: "Welcome home." Julie: "Yeah. Good to be back."

39. R: "So I'm just gonna go home. I'm gonna blend in. I'm gonna stop thinking so much. I'm gonna forget about her, just like I forgot about everything else. I'm gonna... Oh, am I cold? Is that what this is? Corpses don't get cold." /R sees his zombie pals from a distance./ M: "Yo!" R: "What are you doing here?" M: "Boneys. They chased me out. Came to find you. Where is she?" R: "Went home." M: "You okay?" R: "No." M: "Boneys looking for you. And her. You started something." /They decide to go and look for Julie and tell her they are changing into humans./

40. /R walks around the city with a hoody until he finds the house of Julie. Meanwhile, Julie and Nora are both having a chat inside the house about R./ Julie: "No, I'm serious, Nora. I mean, “Corpse“ is just... It's just a stupid name that we came up with for a state of being that we don't understand." Nora: "Yeah." Julie: "Oh, my God! What is wrong with me? Okay. I've got to tell you something. This is kind of weird. Please do not freak out." Nora: "No." Julie: "But I actually miss him." Nora: "You... You miss him?"

41. Julie: "I know, it's so stupid." Nora: " Like you're attracted to him?" Julie: "No, I don't..." Nora: "Like he could be your boyfriend? Your zombie boyfriend? I mean, I know it's really hard to meet guys right now with the apocalypse and stuff, trust me. And look, I know that you miss Perry. Okay? But, Julie, this is weird. Like, I wish the Internet was still working so I could just look up whatever it is that's wrong with you." Julie: "Shut up." (Throws a pillow playfully) Nora: "All right. Okay. I'm getting ready for bed. Hey. I'm glad you're back." Julie: "Yeah. Have sweet dreams about your zombie." Nora: "All right."

42. /Julie sits at the balcony but she hears the voice of R calling her name from below./ R: "Julie. Julie!" Julie: "Oh, my God. R!? What are you doing here??" R: "Came to see you." Julie: "R... You can't just do that. It's dangerous." Nora: "Grigio, shut up! I'm trying to sleep!" Julie: "Uh, sorry!"

43. Julie: "Jesus, R, are you crazy? The people here, they're not like me. If they see you, you'll get killed. Do you understand that?" R: "Yes." Nora: "Are you talking to yourself?" Julie: "- No!" /Nora walks in the balcony./ Nora: Okay, seriously, what is going on out here, Julie? Oh, my God! Is that him?" Julie: "Yeah." Nora: "Sup?"

44. R: "I'm sorry." Julie: "I know. I'm sorry, too." /Julie comes close and gives R an embrace./ Julie: "I actually missed you." R: "Me, too." Julie: "It's funny. You feel warmer than I remember. That's the patrol. Come on, we better get you inside. Come on. You're lucky my dad got pulled into some emergency thing. You're safe here tonight, R."
