New Year 2025
1. What was the single best thing that happened this past year?
The best thing that happened to me this past year was getting my first job. It wasn’t easy to find one because there is a lot of competition in my country, but I was lucky to get a position in a small company. This job helped me learn new skills and become more confident in myself. I also met many friendly people at work who helped me a lot. For example, my manager taught me how to manage my time better. Now, I feel more independent because I can support myself financially. Although the job is not my dream career, it’s a good starting point. I am proud of what I achieved, and it motivates me to work harder in the future.
2. What was the single most challenging thing that happened?
The most challenging thing for me this past year was moving to another country for my studies. I am from a small town, so living in a big city was very different. Everything was new to me, from the language to the transportation system. I also felt homesick because I missed my family and friends a lot. For example, during holidays, I saw other students going home, but I couldn’t afford to travel back. On the positive side, I learned to be more independent and manage my problems on my own. I also made new friends who come from different cultures, which is very exciting. Even though it was tough, I think this experience made me stronger as a person.
3. What was an unexpected event in your life this past year?
An unexpected joy for me this past year was reconnecting with an old friend. We hadn’t spoken in years because we both got busy with our lives. One day, I randomly found her profile on social media and decided to send her a message. To my surprise, she replied quickly, and we started chatting again. Later, we met in person, and it felt like no time had passed at all. We talked about so many memories from school and shared what we are doing now. It was a great feeling to realize that even after so much time, our friendship is still strong. I didn’t expect this to happen, but it made my year much brighter.
4. What was an unexpected challenge?
This year, I faced an unexpected obstacle when my laptop broke down during my final exams. I use my laptop for everything, especially for studying and completing assignments. It stopped working one week before the submission deadline, and I panicked because I had no backup plan. I had to borrow a friend’s laptop, but it wasn’t easy because we both needed it at the same time. I ended up staying awake late every night to finish my work. It was a stressful time, but I managed to submit everything on time. From this experience, I learned the importance of saving my files online and being prepared for unexpected problems.
5. Pick three words to describe this past year.
I would describe this past year with the words "challenging," "exciting," and "transformative." It was challenging because I had to face many obstacles, like balancing my studies with part-time work. It was exciting because I tried new things, such as learning a new language and traveling to another country for the first time. Lastly, it was transformative because I grew as a person and became more confident in my abilities. For example, I learned to be more organized and independent. Even though there were hard times, I feel like this year changed me for the better. These three words summarize how I felt about everything that happened.
