LET'S Learn Proverbs Through Stories.

Proverb -A bad workman always blames his tools.
The meaning of this proverb is ….our success does not depend on what Kind of tools we have but how we use them. A person may have all the equipments in the world but if he does not know how to use them he can never complete a job successfully. Whereas a person who can make effective use of what is available with him can make a success of any work given to him.
The same can be said of real life situations too. We must learn to hone our talents and tabs maximum benefit out of them and not blame destiny or fate when something goes wrong.
Kumar and Ravi were two farmers who were neighbours. Both owned a pair of oxen each with which they ploughed their land. Kumar worked hard all day long in order to get a good yield and looked after his oxen very well since he knew that they were very important for his farming activity
Ravi on the other hand was a very lazy and a miser who never fed his oxen properly but extracted maximum work from them and kept complaining that they were not doing a good job.
As a true friend Kumar advised and pointed out to Ravi that it was cruel to ill-treat the animals which were helping him make a living. Ravi paid little heed to Kumar's words. He soon bought a tractor to plough his land and chased the oxen away since he no longer needed them. Taking pity on the poor animals Kumar took them under his wing although he could ill-afford to maintain them.
The monsoon soon arrived and it was time for cultivation. Kumar’s land was well ploughed and ready for cultivation - thanks to his oxen. Ravi in his miserly fashion had not maintained his tractor well and it kept giving him trouble. With the result, he could not get his land ready for cultivation on time. He lamented and blamed it all on bad luck not realizing that it was he who was responsible for his miserable state. Ravi not only lost out on a good yield by his laziness but also spent more money than required to repair his tractor due to poor maintenance.
Despite having better equipment Ravi was unable to get the best results, whereas Kumar was a good workman and hence was able to succeed with the limited resources that he had.

proverb -A burnt child dreads the fire.
This proverb goes to say that anyone who has had a bad experience will be scared and will stay away from things connected to the experience. For example if a child is hurt in a fire accident it will always he scared of going near a flame or fire for life. The Bad memories and physical pain will certainly prevent it from going close to anything hot in future. But one has to overcome such mental blocks if one has to progress in life.
Once there lived a family of ducks that consisted of Mrs. and Mr. Duck and their six ducklings. The last of the ducklings named Sam was a very active and energetic one. When he was just a few days old he had accidentally fallen into the pond nearby and had almost drowned. Sam had to be rescued by his mother for he was too weak to swim. Ever since then Sam refused to get into the water and while all his brothers and sisters swam around and had fun, Sam would watch from the banks and not go into the pond.
No amount of persuasion helped and Sam was happy chasing the butterflies and playing with his friends, baby rabbit and baby tortoise. Mrs. Duck was very worried about Sam and asked his friends the rabbit and tortoise to persuade him to try swimming. But Sam was adamant and refused to go swimming like all the others in the family.
One day the three friends were playing around with a wood apple and having a rollicking time. Suddenly baby rabbit tripped and fell into the pond. It did not know how to swim and was struggling to stay afloat. Alarmed on seeing this, baby tortoise quickly slipped into the pond to save baby rabbit. Fear gripped Sam as he quacked loudly calling others for help. But no one seemed to be around.
Love for his friends overcame his fear of water and without a second thought Sam quickly jumped into the water to lend a helping hand to baby tortoise to pull baby rabbit out of the water.
The two of them managed to pull baby rabbit out and heaved a sigh of relief that he was safe. It was only then that Sam realized that he had actually not drowned and had indeed saved his friend’s life by swimming excellently.
Sam realized that all along his fear of water had been unfounded and he had allowed one bad experience to block his mind. The three friends cried out in joy and danced in celebration. When Mrs. Duck came to know of it she was extremely happy that her son had at last got over his fear of the water.

Proverb -Actions speak louder than Words. :
This proverb means that our actions convey more than the words they speak. Here the word speak does not mean literally to speak. It is used to mean convey or show or demonstrate. For example if you are teaching someone how to dance... it is better to show them the movements physically instead off just describing it in words. Actions give a clear picture about what we are trying to say in a short period of time.
Here is a small story to illustrate the proverb.
Sita was a ten year old girl who went to school by bicycle everyday. She was a kindhearted young girl always willing to help people. She was very good at studies and always followed her teacher’s advice that one must always lend a helping hand to those in trouble.
One morning, as she was on her way to school, she saw a blind man trying to cross the road in the midst of busy traffic. There was no one to help him and he was in danger of getting hurt by the speeding vehicles. Sita, who saw this, parked her cycle in front of a shop and requested the shop owner to look after her cycle, telling him that she was going to help the blind man. Sita ran across to the blind man, took hold of his white cane and told him to walk with her. She waved her hand at all the vehicles, signaling them to stop.
All the vehicles stopped and gave way for them to get across. The drivers were touched by the helping move of a small girl who did this small help. The blind man thanked Sita profusely and wished her good luck. Sita’s class teacher who was passing by saw this and felt very proud of her student. Sita’s gesture towards the blind man clearly showed her good intention to help others who were in need.
That day the teacher told the whole class of Sita’s helping tendency and asked them to applaud her. She also told the other students that they should follow Sita in converting what they learn into action. Sita was very pleased that she could at least do this small help for a handicapped person. After that Sita became famous among the school-students and she was awarded in the school function for her humanitarian gesture.

Proverb -A Fault confessed is half redressed.
All of us commit mistakes knowingly and unknowingly. When we do it knowingly and hurt others, we must definitely take responsibility for it and face the punishment. When we do that people around us will not consider it as a big crime and will only appreciate our honesty. Thus the intensity of the crime will come down and they will be ready even to pardon us.
Raju was a student of class V and was a very naughty boy. Although he was intelligent he always scored low marks in Mathematics since he did not like the subject at all. Moreover the maths teacher was very strict lady who beat the children severely if they did not get full marks in their class tests. Many a time Raju was a victim of such harsh treatment and he wanted to teach the teacher a lesson.
So one day he decided to play a trick on the lady teacher. He took a rubber scorpion that looked like as good as a live one and placed it in the table, knowing fully well that the teacher would open it to take a piece of chalk. As he had anticipated the teacher opened the drawer and saw the scorpion and screamed in fright and then fainted. All the students rushed forward to lift the teacher. Hearing the commotion, the headmaster came along and arrange for first aid to be given to the teacher.
The headmaster was very angry when he realized that the students had played a prank on the teacher. He demanded to know who had done it. Raju was very scared to own up and so kept quiet. When no student came forward the headmaster decided that all the students should be punished. On hearing this some of the students started crying. Raju felt very bad that his fellow students had to face punishment on account of him and decided to own up to his mistake.
Raju told the headmaster that he had played the prank and apologized profusely asking him to spare the other students from punishment. Raju also told the headmaster that he had done it only because he could not bear the beatings of the maths teacher. Although the headmaster was angry with Raju, he was happy that he had spoken the truth. The headmaster asked Raju to apologize to the maths teacher and let him off with a light punishment warning him not to attempt anything similar again. The maths teacher was also called aside by the headmaster and advised not to punish the children so severely in future.

Proverb -All is well that ends well.
This proverb conveys the fact that there is a solution to every problem. We have to try our best to solve that problem. At times certain problems seem as if they cannot be solved easily. With a little effort every problem can be solved. Whenever there is a happy ending to any problem it is obvious that people concerned are happy and satisfied. So anything that ends on a good note spreads happiness all around. This is illustrated by the famous story about Androcles and lion.
Once there lived a slave called Androcles who was yearning to be set free by his master since he was treating him badly. So Androcles hatched a plan and escaped into a nearby forest. After he had traveled a while Androcles suddenly heard a roar behind him and found a lion standing close by. He was sure the lion was going to kill him. But instead the lion slowly limped towards him and held out its paw. There was a thorn stuck to its paw and there was a lot of blood oozing out.
Androcles removed the thorn and the lion walked away peacefully into the forest. After a few days Androcles was captured by his master who was so angry that he had run away. The master decided to throw Androcles to a lion. This was a common practice in ancient Greece where the slaves were often thrown into an arena to fight a starving lion.
The next day a huge crowd had gathered to watch the fight. The King was also present. A lion that had been starved for a number of days was brought into the arena in a cage. As soon as Androcles was brought in, the guards let the lion out of the cage. Androcles was trembling in fear as the lion rushed at him with great rage. Much to the astonishment of the crowd the lion suddenly stopped in its path looked intently at Androcles and then went and lay down near his feet. Androcles was delighted as he realized that it was the same lion that he had helped in the forest. He hugged the lion as the entire arena watched in stunned silence. The King was overjoyed at seeing such a brave act and permitted Androcles to be freed. When he entered the arena, Androcles thought that he was a dead man but the turn of events ensured the opposite his freedom.

Proverb -All that Glitters is not Gold. :
Anything that is bright and shining need not necessarily be made of gold. Certain things appear to be valuable but actually they are not. So we have to be careful and should not pay more for things before examining their actual worth.
Sometimes we are deceived by appearances. This is the idea conveyed by this proverb. It cautions us from being carried away by outward appearances that divert our attention and make less important things appear more valuable.
Once upon a time there were two friends - Anil and Sunil who were travelling by train from their village to the city. They both were planning to do a lot of shopping in the city malls and were discussing about this. The first thing they wanted to buy was a wrist watch for both of them.
A very well dressed young man with impeccable manners who was travelling with them overheard their conversation and politely asked if they would be interested in buying a couple of watches that he had. The stranger said that a friend of his had brought these watches from abroad and that they were made of pure gold. He opened his bag, brought out two beautiful watches that were stunning to look at and sparkled in their gold straps.
Anil liked the watches so much that he immediately agreed to buy one. Sunil however cautioned Anil not to take a hasty decision since they did not know for sure if the watch was made of gold. Sunil warned Anil many times not to purchase those watches and scolded his friend for coming to hasty decision which will take both of them to unwanted situations in the future.
Anil brushed aside all of Sunil’s objections and paid the stranger the huge sum he asked for and took the watch home. However a couple of days later the watch stopped ticking and when Anil took it to a watch repairer, he was told that the watch was not made of gold and that he had been cheated.
Anil was shattered that he had lost his hard earned money by getting carried away by glossy appearance of the watch. He felt ashamed of his foolish act of taking a hasty decision and not listening to his friend.
Thgereafter Anil became cautious of what he is doing and became a discriminatory person.

Proverb -As you sow so shall you reap. :
The quality of the seeds that you sow determines the quality of the crops that you harvest. If the seeds are of superior quality then the yield will also be the same. Similarly the benefits that one enjoys in life are directly proportionate to the efforts that one puts in. If a person is lazy about doing any job then he or she cannot expect any benefit out of that. Here it can also refer to the fact that in order to have mature and responsible adults one must always instill good habits and sensible moral values in children.
Once upon a time there were two kings who ruled over neighboring kingdoms. King Aryan was a great warrior who looked after his subjects very well. All his people loved him because he was always looking into their safely and welfare and made sure that all his subjects led a very happy and healthy life.
King Vaishal on the other hand was a very lazy man who loved to spend his time in entertaining and dancing and paid scant attention to the needs or developmental activities of the people. His people were very angry because he hardly ever came out of the palace to look into their needs or listen to their woes.
One day a powerful Sultan decided to capture these two kingdoms and made his way to them with his strong army. King Aryan’s army was alert and was ready to face the oncoming onslaught in all preparedness. Although they knew that the enemy was more powerful, their love for their King was so much that even women and children were ready to come to the war front and fight to protect their King.
It was a different story in the kingdom of King Vaishal. When they heard of the impending war, all the people started fleeing to the neighbouring kingdoms leaving the King all by himself. They were not interested to protect their King who did nothing for their welfare. King Vaishal only then realized his foolishness but it was too late by then. He was defeated in the war and fled for his life.
King Aryan on the other hand defeated the Sultan with the help of his motivated army and paved the way for his people to live in peace. King Aryan had the welfare of his people at heart at all times. His subjects returned his love by being loyal and supportive to him during testing times.

Proverb -Better be alone than in bad company.
It is better to be called a loner than to be labeled as a bad person. It is better off to be without any friends than to have friends with a bad character. You are known by the company you keep. So we must be careful while choosing our friends.
Once there lived a group of monkeys in a small forest next to a mangrove. There were a lot of youngsters among the group who played around and spent their time happily. One day a new monkey family came to live with the group. The new family had two little monkeys - Tittoo and Bittoo - that were very mischievous and naughty beyond imagination.
Soon Tittoo and Bittoo began to make friends with the other little monkeys and tempting them to join in their pranks.
“You are living such a boring life. You must be adventurous like us. You are missing out on so much fun," they would tell the other youngsters.
The other monkeys too were fascinated by Tittoo and Bittoo’s activities and soon joined in. They played havoc in the neighboring mangrove by eating all the mangoes and stealing things from anyone who passed by. They ransacked the houses in the neighboring village and took great pleasure in scaring young children and snatching away their toys.
Monty and Bunty were two close friends who refused to join the gang in their naughty acts for they thought that it was not nice to steal things from innocent passers-by. The other monkeys made fun of them by calling them cowards but Monty and Bunty did not bother about that. They played by themselves in the forest while all the others were together as a gang.
Fed up with the notorious activities of the monkeys, the owner of the mangrove sought the help of the local police. Monty and Bunty warned Tittoo and Bittoo to keep away from mischief since they had seen a few policemen with guns patrolling the mangrove. But the naughty monkeys refused to listen and continued with their menacing activities.
The next day the police had come armed with tranquillizers and set up traps to capture the monkeys. By dusk most of the monkeys including Tittoo and Bittoo were caught and taken away to the zoo by the police. The others who managed to escape came back into the forest totally scared and never again ventured into the mangrove, realizing that they had indeed behaved very badly.
Monty and Bonty felt that it was better to be alone than in bad company. Hence they faced no problems. But the other monkeys who played mischief with Tittoo and Bittoo felt very sad for their friends had been taken away by the police. They realized how important it was to stay away from bad company.

Proverb -Better Safe than Sorry.
This proverb means that it is always better to refrain from taking rash decisions. Every situation needs to be looked into and analyzed before embarking on a plan of action. Even if it is time consuming it is better to be safe than to get into dangerous situations / trouble which make you feel sorry later.
Sharad was a fun loving teenager who loved adventures and challenges. He was well trained in martial arts and was considered a dare-devil by many. He often undertook dangerous assignments as challenges, having his parents worry about his safety all the time. He was especially fond of riding his bike at great speed which often left onlookers stunned and gaping open-mouthed. His college authorities warned him several times saying that he was becoming a bad example to other students who were trying to ape his rash driving.
Sharad laughed away all the admonitions by saying that he was always in perfect control of his bike and confident of his capabilities.
Of late Sharad had been practicing to ride his bike on a single wheel. He had skidded and fallen down several times hurting himself badly in the process. Since he had set his mind on achieving the feat, he refused to listen to anyone’s advice. His friends felt very proud about his adventurous nature and always encouraged him instead of cautioning him.
One day Sharad was provoked to ride his bike on a single wheel by a few college students inside the college campus and he immediately took up the challenge. A few well meaning students tried to stop him saying that it was too dangerous to carry out since the roads were not in good condition. Sharad refused to listen and got his bike out ready for the act.
The road was cleared and Sharad was getting ready at the far end of the road to begin his act when a few students noticed an oil spill on the road. By the time they could shout a warning to Sharad. he was already speeding down the road. As he tried to lift the front wheel his back wheel traveled over the oil-spill and his bike skidded sending Sharad flying across the road. As people ran across to help him, Sharad lay still in an unconscious state. He was rushed to hospital where the doctors pronounced that he had injured his spine so badly that he would never again be able to walk. It was a great blow to Sharad and everyone dear to him.
Sharad felt terribly depressed and sorry for himself. It was then that he realized that his foolishness in not observing safety warnings had cost him his future. He understood that it was always better to be safe than sorry.

Proverb -Better to get an egg a day than a hen tomorrow.
The value of an egg that you get today is higher than a hen that you may or may not get in the future. It is better to be content with what we get today and plan our life accordingly than to live on dreams that may not come true tomorrow. It is good to have lofty goals in fife. But we should not let go of the opportunities that are currently available in pursuit of bigger things. We must be realistic. That is the message conveyed in this proverb.
Once there was a shepherd who was grazing his sheep in the forest. Every morning he would drive them up the hill and bring them back home by late evening. He always dreamt of owning more sheep but hardly took any efforts to realize his dream. One afternoon there was a sudden storm and the shepherd hurriedly drove his sheep into a nearby cave for shelter.
When he entered the cave he found some wild goats already inside. The shepherd immediately hit upon an idea. He decided to feed the wild goats along with his sheep so that he would be able to have more number of animals in his fold. The wild goats were huge and ate a lot of grass and leaves. There was hardly any grass left for the sheep but the shepherd hardly worried about it. He was more interested in making the wild goats fatter so that he could get a better price for them in the market for their meat.
The shepherd kept awake day and night looking after the wild goats making sure they did not run away. A few days later the storm subsided and on his usual visit to the cave one morning the shepherd found to his horror that the cave was empty. The wild goats had escaped into the hills once they realized that the storm had subsided.
The wild goats had also fought with the sheep and left there badly injured. Some of the sheep had even died. It was then that the shepherd realized how foolish he had been in neglecting his own sheep and looking after the wild goat which never belonged to him. He tried to save the remaining sheep but unfortunately they had not been fed property soon died one after another. Thus the shepherd was left with nothing in the end. He had to stave without his sheep.

Proverb -Cheaters Never Prosper.
History and experience tell us that any one who tries to covet what belongs to others never lives happily and always suffer for their misdeeds. Those who conspire to cheat others never prosper and always end up being punished. Here the proverb does not necessarily point out to material things alone. Cheating here could be symbolic of broken promises, breach of agreement and lack of commitment.
Gokul and Nanda were two poor friends who lived in a small village. One day they decided to try their luck in the city and went in search of a job. Fortunately they were able to find good jobs and earned a lot of money. They decided to return to their village. Gokul was an evil minded man and plotted to steal his friend's money.
As they neared their village, Gokul told Nanda, “It is not safe to carry so much money. We will be robbed by thieves. So let us hide the money safely somewhere and take it later."
Nanda was a good soul and trusted his friend and readily agreed. They hid the money under a tree and went home. A few days later Gokul returned, dug out all the money and quietly took it home.
One day he went to Nanda's house and told him that he wanted some money and asked him to accompany him to the secret tree. When they dug the pit they found the money had gone. Each accused the other of fraud and finally the matter was taken to court. The judges decided to visit the tree since it was the only witness.
Meanwhile Gokul hatched a wicked plan. He requested his father to sit in the hollow of the tree and asked him to pretend like the voice of the tree. When the judges came and requested the tree to name the thief, the tree named Nanda as the culprit much to the astonishment of the entire village. But Nanda suspected foul play. So he took some sticks and set them fire in the bottom of the tree. As the fire spread it became hot and Gokul’s father could not sit inside and jumped out of the tree. Everyone knew the truth and the judges punished Gokul for cheating his friend. Finally Nanda got all his money from Gokul.

Proverb-Despair gives Courage to a Coward. :
Most of the time, we do not realize the talent that is within us. Certain situations help to bring out these special qualities to the fore. Just as a drowning man tries to hold on to anything that comes his way to save his life, we too come up with remedies beyond our imagination in desperate situations. We find the courage to do extraordinary things when we are in despair.
Even a coward can be turned into a brave warrior in a life-threatening situation.
Once there was an ant that lived in a tree by the side of a pond. He was very timid and was scared of even the slightest disturbance in the tree. One day a heavy wind blew across the tree and the ant fell into the pond and was struggling to swim and stay afloat. A pigeon that lived in the same tree broke a twig of the tree and threw it to the ant. The ant got on to the twig and the pigeon swooped down picked up the twig and placed it back on the tree. The ant thanked the pigeon profusely for saving his life.
As the days went by the ant and the pigeon became good friends. The pigeon always told the ant that he should learn to be a bit braver and face life boldly. But the ant remained the same. One day a hunter came to the pond to quench his thirst. As he was drinking water from the pond he noticed the pigeon sitting on the tree. The hunter wanted to shoot the pigeon and got his bow and arrow ready. The ant noticed this and wanted to desperately save his friend.
The pigeon was fast asleep and there was no way to warn him since he was sitting a long way from the ant. The ant knew that it did not have much time and it had to act fast. In desperation the ant jumped down from the tree and crawled as fast as he could and bit the toe of the hunter hard as he could. The hunter cried out in pain and missed his aim.
The pigeon woke up hearing the noise and noticed the hunter with his bow and arrow. It flew away to safety. The ant was very happy that it could save his friend and felt elated for having acted bravely for once in his life.
The story clearly illustrates that when placed in a desperate situation the ant could rise above its limitations and act bravely in order to save the pigeon’s life. So when the situation demands even a coward can turn into a courageous person.

Proverb -Every Dog has His Day.
This proverb simply denotes the fact that one cannot take away the success of another. Each one has a talent and deserves to be successful. And under the right circumstances anyone can outshine another. Every person has his / her moment of glory.
Amudhan was a very sincere and hard working youngster who worked for a big industrial house in the Research & Development Department. He came up with brilliant ideas for projects which had been always accepted by the management. But unfortunately all the credit for his achievements was always taken away by his manager Mr. Ghai.
Amudhan was very angry every time this happened but was helpless because Mr. Ghai was in control of the entire department. He always earned a good name from the directors of the company by boasting that all the projects were the result of his ideas.
So one day Amudhan and his friends hit upon an idea. They presented a project for making an energy saver for the company. The manager in turn gave it to his superiors without even reading it properly. The manager as usual kept talking about how hard he had worked to make the idea a success and how it would save energy and crores of rupees for the company. A day was fixed for the demonstration of the machine.
At the appointed time Amudhan disappeared from the office and Mr. Ghai was left to do the demonstration. Since he had not bothered to read the report he had problems in getting it working. When he requested Amudhan’s friends for help, they clearly told him that since Amudhan had developed it he was the right person for the job.
The manager cut a sorry figure in front of the directors who were very angry with him for being so irresponsible. Just as they were ready to leave, Amudhan appealed and explained the working of the machine. The directors were in total awe as the energy saver was indeed a splendid discovery. Snatching the opportunity Amudhan also requested the directors if they could view one more of his inventions.
The manager was angry that Amudhan had not told him about it but was waved aside by the directors who were willing to spend any amount of time with Amudhan. At the end of the day the directors realized how talented Amudhan was and how Mr. Ghai had all along dominated him. They praised Amudhan and promoted him as the head of the department and fired Mr. Ghai for being selfish and suppressing true talent.

Proverb -Honesty is The Best Policy. :
Being honest at all times is the best policy to follow in life. Speaking the truth may at times put you through hardships, But ultimately only good things will result from it. To stand up to the truth requires a great deal of courage and an honest person is always treated with respect and loved by everyone.
“Students I want all of you to finish your record work By tomorrow. I will collect all the books tomorrow and anyone handing over an incomplete notebook will be punished severely. And I will give you extra marks if you do a neat work’, said Mr. Johnson, the Science teacher of Class VII to his students.
The entire class knew that Mr. Johnson meant every word of what he said because he was very strict. Ashok and Ram were students of the same class and there was always a tough competition between them as to who stood first in class. Both of them knew that getting the extra marks for record work would certainly help them get the first rank.
That evening Ram sat down to do his record work. Some of the drawings were very tough. But Ram somehow wanted to get the extra marks that Mr. Johnson had promised. So HE ran to the house next door and asked Uncle Shiva who lived there to help him out. Uncle Shiva was a friendly old man very good at drawing who loved to help children in the neighborhood with their home work.
Next day the beaming Ram went to school, sure that Mr. Johnson was going to give him the maximum marks for his record work. Mr. Johnson was very impressed and as expected Ram got the extra marks as well as the first rank beating Ashok by five marks. But strangely Ram did not feel very happy. He knew that he had cheated by asking someone else to draw for him whereas Ashok had done his own drawings.
Ram felt very guilty and ashamed. He immediately went and confessed the truth to Mr. Johnson and told him that it was Ashok who deserved to get the first rank and not him. Although Mr. Johnson was angry at first, he appreciated Ram’s honesty and patted him for having the courage to speak the truth. Ram felt relieved to get the guilty feeling off his mind and apologized to the whole class for his distasteful behavior.

Proverb -Unity is Strength.
We can overcome even the toughest problems if every one of us unite and work together. A King can conquer an enemy only if his army is united. Similarly for any task, concerted efforts from all concerned will help complete it successfully. Instead of wasting our strength, effort and time in doing a job individually, if a group of people plan and work, they can complete the task faster and better.
One day all the parts of the body were arguing as to who was the most important and greatest of them all. Each part of the body felt that it was indispensable and made fun of the others.
THE Hand felt that it did all the hard work and so it was very important to man. The Leg felt that man could only move because of it and hence it was very crucial for his existence. The teeth claimed that it chewed all the food and helped man to live a healthy life.
Every part of the body thus went on and on claiming that each one was more important than the other. It led to a big argument and all the parts decided to go on strike.
“I won’t carry a thing." said the Hand.
“I won't walk any further." said the Leg.
The Teeth stopped chewing food and the Mouth refused to take in food or water. With the result that the body became very weak in just a couple of days. Since the Stomach stopped receiving any food it could not energize the other parts of the body and there was no proper blood flow in the body. The body was nearing a state of collapse.
It was then that all the parts of the body realized how stupid they had been. They understood that they were not really important as individual parts and had to function cohesively to maintain a healthy body. They decided that henceforth they would all work together as one healthy body and stop fighting among them. They realized that each one was important in their own way and unity always resulted in strength. Thereafter all the parts of the body did their respective works regularly. This resulted in better coordination. Soon the body recovered from its weekness and became active as it was once few days back.
We all have to learn a lesson from this episode. United we stand and divided we fall.
