Let's Talk Superstitions and the Supernatural!

Goal: The goal of this lesson is to practice your English pronunciation while reading the texts and conversational skill through free-talking discussions about the topic, 'Superstitions and the Supernatural.'

Warm-up Task: 1. One person should think of a number from one to five. Focus on the number but not say it aloud. 2. The other students should choose a number from one to five that the original thinker chose. Don't say it out loud yet. 3. Once everyone has chosen a number, compare the results with the original thinker. Did someone guess the number right? 4. If any of the numbers match, say what you think this means. 5. Is this by coincidence or by luck?

3. Do you think there is such thing as an unlucky or bad number? What do you think they are?

4. What are some known superstitions in your country? Do you know of any? Tell us about it.

7. If you are at home and alone, are you more likely to think there is a ghost or something else in your house?

8. Telepathy is communication directly from one mind to another. Is it possible to communicate this way?

9. Do you believe in hypnosis? What happens when a person is hypnotized?

10. Can some people predict the future? Have you ever had a feeling about the future that turned out to be true?

11. Have you experienced the feeling of déjà vu? How do you explain this strange feeling?

13. What is the purpose of Halloween? Do you celebrate it? How?

14. If you could time travel, when would you go to and what would you do there?
