When I first started learning family vocabulary in English, I used to think ' father-in-law', 'sister-in-law' and all the other words related to in-laws were the longest words until I saw ' FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED' What does that even mean? Who calls someone their FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED??? Your first cousin once removed is a child of your cousin. But it doesn't mean you can call their second child ' second cousin once removed' 🙂 Regardless of their birth order or number, all the children of your cousin are your FIRST COUSINS ONCE REMOVED. And have you heard about SECOND COUSIN? Your second cousin is the child of your parent's first cousin 💀 At this point you think Uzbek is the easiest language. You call most of the females aunties, and the younger ones sisters. As for males, you either have uncles, or brothers. Very few people in our culture actually call their cousins their COUSINS. I for one call my cousins either my brothers or sisters. Bless our ancestors for not complicating our language. 🤲

PODCAST WRITING Have you heard about the active listening strategy in which you need to write one podcast word by word. I do believe that you thought this is a magical strategy and after doing so multiple times your listening will just skyrocket. Being the person who tried myself, I don't think this technique can help much for two reasons: 1.It is very very very boring and as a result most people won't do it having done just once, so progress isn't gonna come 2. You will try to write every single word and not listen to the podcast itself, this means you will not understand what the main topic is, what they are describing etc. I myself got extremely bored when I did it. ----------------------------‐-------- But, there is good news🥳 The very news is that there is another alternative to podcast writing. As the name suggests it is listening actively. Imo it means writing down some important points, good chunk of language and things you liked. This way you will be more alert and most importantly understand what you are listening rather than being a writing machine! P.s. if you improved your listening skills by this method then great. I am against if you benefit!

📋 Study plan Level: A2 or B1 Listening: 1. BBC learning English- understandable for those who just began their language learning journey 2. HIMYM(American)/Extra English(British) *While watching the show or listening to the podcast write down the new words and always deeply focus on when you are watching/listening! Reading: 1. Read an article every day and learn the new words/structures and revise them constantly 2. Choose a book out of your interest and read it every day but doesn’t mean 50 pages on a daily basis; thus pay attention to quality not quantity and just be consistent Writing: 1. Start keeping a journal today because it helps you gather your messy thoughts into one place 2. Write about pretty much everything at first just to make a habit of writing 3. Write the important points/parts of the book you are reading and describe them as much as you can Speaking : 1. Shadow(learn how to do it on YT) 2. Record yourself and talk about anything you want 3. Talk to yourself more and with your friends P.s. Try to do these activities for 30 days at least. Everything takes time to be improved, let alone language. Just be patient 😎

#Pronunciation A lot of you guys ask this question over and over again. The very question is: How can I improve my pronunciation? ~Pronunciation just like other skills can be improved by doing lots of practice on it. 1️⃣First and foremost you should immerse in English a lot especially by watching and listening as far as pronunciation goes. Because in this way you will hear how the words are pronounced(including word stress and intonation). 2️⃣Find a person with a good/clear pronunciation and your preferable accent as well. And then watch her/his videos every day and try to imitate her/him(optional). Even though you don't imitate, with high possibility your pronunciation and way of speaking will start to look like hers/his. 3️⃣ Last but not the least, use authentic dictionary apps so that you can learn the words with its correct pronunciation. I am mentioning this because there are so many people who pronounce words totally incorrectly. E.g. they pronounce the word determine "determayn" ✴Recommended dictionary sources: OALD(personally use) Cambridge dictionary(available on google) Google itself

🗣Are you also struggling with fluency in your speaking? Well it is one of the normal as well as common struggles we all encounter during the learning process. So before I start giving my advice pls CALM DOWN😂. I do think that it takes us to spend our time, energy, lots of devotion you name it. So the more you speak the better you will get. The very advice: record yourself for 5 mins in the morning and again for another 5 mins in the evening. Talk about anything, like daily plans/priorities and feelings etc. But do this every day and with a passion(it does matter). Plus, don't forget to talk to yourself actively🤓

#FAQ I have been studying for IELTS by myself but I don't see any improvement, especially when it comes to writing. What do you think whether I should attend any courses or self-study is enough? ~To tell the truth A GOOD TEACHER DOES MATTER for some reasons. First and foremost, that very teacher can show you right direction which ,as a result, doesn't waste your time. For example typical ''not good'' teachers only focus on doing more and more practice tests rather than improving students General English. I myself wasted couple of months by attending some wrong courses. ~Importance of a good teacher in ''writing section'' Secondly, especially in writing portion you definitely need a good teacher because it is the hardest part and without right instructions and proper feedback, in my opinion, it is impossible to see any improvement. ~Why not self-study? At last but definitely not least, self-study is way harder than you would ever think. I myself did that kind of thing for whole summer and believe or not that was a ''torture''. Plus when you are a self-student you will tend to follow everyone's instructions because you don't know what to follow! For those who cannot attend offline courses, there are some very reliable and good online ones. I also studied online and that helped me to understand writing better. So try to attend right courses as much as possible! Online or offline(doesn't matter!) If it's hard to find a teacher or you don't have enough money to pay, then there is a ChatGPT bot.

Formal vs Informal vocabulary. Like all languages, English has 3 types of words: formal, informal, and neutral. As a good rule of thumb, you should avoid using informal vocabulary in the Writing section, as well as too formal vocabulary in your Speaking test. Neutral words can go both ways. The word 'children', for example, is a completely neutral word, as opposed to 'kids' which sounds informal. Hence, it's a good idea to stick to the word 'children' in your essays. Compare these two sentences: 1) Kids learn a new language more quickly than adults. ❌ 2) Children learn a new language more quickly than adults. ✅ Many IELTS takers don't make this distinction. They keep using informal vocabulary, such as lots of, a bunch of, and in a nutshell, in their essays, which is obviously wrong. Conversely, it's a good idea to use these phrases in your speaking test. Instead of saying 'nevertheless, it is generally agreed that', which sounds unnatural, you'd better say 'mind you, pretty much everyone agrees that'. Can you think of any informal ways to say 'In conclusion'?

How to improve your fluency(Part2) As far as I am concerned, the more you talk the better the fluency of your speech will get. We have already talked about two ways of doing that. Well, today I want to give another method or way whatever you wanna call it. And...... THAT WAY is TAKING VIDEOS🥳. If you thought that only only tiktokers should take own videos, yes you are wrong😁 Because unlike just recording your voice, videotaping can show your gestures, facial expressions etc. In this way you can see how confident you are in front of camera. And I am convinced that if a person is confident in front of camera that person is supremely confident in front of people 😎. I have tons of videos of myself and nobody watches that, don't worry! as long as you yourself don't show them. What to talk about? ~Well, pretty much everything but for the sake of IELTS speaking I think retelling articles and videos/podcasts are far better rather than just random talks. For daily articles and podcasts you can check out this channel 👉@ieltsapex(not an ad, just my humble recommendation)

#Speaking ~FLUENCY~ *I am not an expert, all I am posting is based on my own experience! Let's define what fluency is. Fluency means speaking effortlessly/smoothly.(Not super mega fast) -How to speak fluently? Well, in order to improve your fluency you just need to speak more and more(at least I think so). The ways: •Talk about your own environment. For example, you can talk about your home, room, school and people who you are with. And don't seek for the person to do so, because you already have one; yourself 🥳. I, personally, always talk to myself because I am a great listener 😎. Just talk to yourself and don't waste your time by thinking what others would think of you if they see you talk to yourself). Anyways everyone is paranoid these days😁 •Recording yourself is another way of talking. What is more, having recorded, you can listen to it and check how fluent you are because when you speak you can't really know whether you are speaking smoothly or not. I would recommend you record yourself twice a day for 5 minutes. Once you get up and have your breakfast, you can record yourself and talk about your daily priorities and etc. And again in the evening before bed you can talk about how well you could accomplish your plans.

#WritingWeek Time for my favorite part a.k.a writing skills, huh?😁 So first and foremost let's talk about the ways that you can improve your general writing skills. Guess what? You need to write a lot🤓. Because before starting super serious task1 and task2 you should secure your skills, including how to make sense out of your writing and organizing ideas, you name it. ~How to do that? Well, the way I did and still do is keeping journals/diaries where I write about pretty much everything, like the goals and roles, people and me and etc. Don't underestimate the importance of this activity because over time it can impact your writing big time. If you struggle what to write about just start with what you are feeling and your thoughts. The second way to improve your general writing skills is posting on social media, like on Instagram or something else although nobody reads it DO IT! Even if only one person reads and can understand what you mean CONGRATS you made it.

#WritingWeek What to write about to your journal/diary: Is it freaking hard to think what to write🥴? Well you are not alone. And here is the tip🥳- Remember! I posted like million times that just watching movies/series/cartoons/videos and etc does improve your General English, especially listening. Well, if you want to get the most out of those movies, then I would recommend you take notes and write your insights from them to your diary. Great, isn't it?😎 I personally started that recently and it helps me soooooo much to remember most of what I watched. The second way: BTW you can do the same thing with the things you read. For example when I read a book I always take useful notes📝 If you like it share it!

#WritingWeek Started keeping a journal and again have zero idea what to write about🥴 Well don't worry, you have me who constantly shows you the ways🥳 Remember when I said that you should read articles and watch videos to improve your reading and listening. Well, you can use them to improve your writing skills. ~But how? Once you read an article try to summarize it by describing the main idea in bullet points, short and clear notes and diagrams/graphs. The benefits of doing it: • Improves your skill of selecting the main idea which is what you need in super hard matching heading questions • In summary you can use the new words you learnt which helps you memorize them better • As you practice this more you will master taking smart notes The same applies to videos! You liked? then share...

I have already talked enough about improving your general reading skills so it is time to talk about the practice part. -Like in listening section, I improved my reading section by resolving the practice tests. ~So how to resolve? 1️⃣Firstly do the test with deep focus without thinking anything. Having finished the test do not hurry to check your work, instead RESOLVE/RE-DO it. That means you should do the test for the second time but this time without time limit and pressure that you have to answer the questions as fast as possible. Plus, open your reliable dictionary app to look up unfamiliar words during the resolving. 2️⃣Once you start resolving, don't read super fast as you do it in the solving, instead read aloud with intonation to understand the text better. Read several times to truly understand everything(it is highly important). 3️⃣As the name suggests you need to re-answer the questions but this time you have to prove well enough why that word or that option is the answer. 4️⃣Don't just take the former answer again even if you are 100% sure that is the answer. Prove it! I always do that in order to be 1000% sure that when I check my resolving I won't be disappointed. 5️⃣At last but definitely not least, what is really important in resolving is taking your time, not hurrying and proving why the answer the answer! 6️⃣And now you can check your answers if you think you found 40/40 in resolving. But it doesn't mean you will find 40/40 even in resolving because it just doesn't mean🤦🏻‍♀️😁. But I always found more correct answers in my resolving, so don't worry it will work😅

SPEAKING VOCABULARY TIP One of the most frequent questions I get asked is 'where can I get the vocabulary for speaking' or 'what book is the best for learning vocabulary for speaking' To be honest, I dont like the idea of learning words to use in speaking from books because no matter how many times you see a particular word/phrase/collocation, it's very difficult to turn them into active vocabulary that you use without thinking of. This is because before a particular word turns into active vocabulary, you need to see it being used several times,(at least this is how it works for me) including how it is used, in what situations it is used, with what tone the word is pronounced and etc. This is why the best way to improve your vocabulary is to listen and watch more. Watch movies, documentaries and practically anything that interests you in English. Your brain needs to absorb the language before it starts to produce the same language. By watching native speakers speak, you'll become aware of the style(band 7,8,9) which means you'll know where you can use a particular word and where you cant. Or when you can use an idiom and proverbs and when you cannot. After enough exposure/experience, you'll definitely start talking more and most importantly, you'll start producing natural English:)

#Day4: As you all know(at least you are supposed to know) that only listening itself can improve your listening skills.(I am not hiding any magical secrets from you guys, it is what it is!). So the next way to do so is watching CARTOONS!🙃🙃🙃 Cartoons are just like movies but they are cartoons😁🤦🏻‍♀️(greatest explanation ever, huh?). The extra benefits of cartoons: •Clear pronunciation of words which is not the case with movies most of the time. •APPROPRIATE FOR ALL(for those who say movies are culturally inappropriate) •At last but certainly not least they are freaking amusing😆😆😆.

Recommendations: •Kung fu panda •Encanto •The Diary of a Wimpy kid •Scooby Doo where are you •Barbie series •The Croods •Lady bug(available on you tube) •Phineas and Ferb(available on you tube) •Spy kids film series •Rio series •Scoob! •Big Hero •Boss Baby 1&2 and series •The ice age •Hotel Transylvania •Paw patrols

Promise is a promise guys! Let's talk about how to improve your listening day1#: *Listen as much as possible (the formula of improvement) ~For starters I would recommend listen to podcasts and news in order to get your ears adapted to English speech. There are tons of channels on YouTube which exclusively upload videos about news or just interesting things. Some recommendations: •BBC 6 minute English(British accent for starters and useful for vocabulary) •BBC news •ABC news •NBC news(American accent) •TED talks(variety of topics and good for worldview) •TED ED(science-related topics) How to listen effectively: 1️⃣Just listen to the podcast or watch the video for the first time without anything, like dictionary and taking notes etc. 2️⃣Watch the video with subtitles or listen to the podcast with the transcript once again and learn the new words but not specific terms( such as medical terms and etc). 3️⃣Without subtitles watch or listen again to revise the vocab and check how much you understand now 4️⃣Speed listening: watch the video with 1.5x or higher if you are too confident😁. This helps you to understand fast speeches if you do this constantly! Important to mention: Everything seems hard when you just start so just be patient and keep listening because even your native language was hard to master some time ago!

#FAQ WHAT IS GENERAL ENGLISH? I thought everyone understood when I stressed the importance of general English in scoring high on IELTS. But according to the questions I frequently receive, people have almost no idea about this term. General English(UMUMIY INGLIZ TILI) includes all : grammar, listening, reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary to name but a few. So when I say you should improve your GE I mean all of these. So how to improve then? •Firstly learn grammar properly. Then immerse yourself in English by watching TV-shows in English, reading books, writing your plans and anything in English and just speaking. My recommendation: You can watch and read whatever you want and like. You DON'T HAVE TO WATCH FRIENDS AND READ ATOMIC HABITS JUST BECAUSE I DID!

📗How to learn new words? The most asked question #2: *I didn't and don't learn words from specific vocabulary books because it is BORING! So, I prefer to expand my vocab by reading articles/books and watching movies/videos. In other words from the content. As in this way it is a lot easier to learn the word and how to use it in the correct context. Should I learn every single word from the content? •No you don't have to. It again becomes boring. Instead, learn the words which either are repeated multiple times or those which make it really hard to understand the plot or the meaning of the text. ~But exclusively for IELTS students I would recommend learn as many words as possible from Cambridge passages and listening tests, because they tend to be repeated and likely to appear on your real exam question paper.

How to improve your listening?🧐 ~Important to mention that actually the formula of improvement is easy in English: JUST DO IT! That means if you want to get high score in listening just listen more.😅 So I would highly recommend to watch movies, series, you tube videos or just listen to podcasts. 1️⃣Extra English: I personally watched when I was a beginner so students with lower levels can watch this. Available on you tube. 2️⃣Kung fu panda: this cartoon is so amusing and the accent is American. Certainly can help to improve your listening skills if you watch constantly. 3️⃣It would be a shame to me if I didn't mention the most influential resource which I think helped me a big time. ''FRIENDS''- this is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, tv-sitcoms ever. Watch and enjoy! 4️⃣At last but definitely not least there are a great deal of you tubers out there who create their content in English. What is really great, that you can watch videos according to what you like💥. Passion helps you watch continuously! Just search what you have passion for and you tube finds necessary people. PS - @Series2Bot you can find more tv-series here...
