Question Assumptions To Avoid Judging People Wrongly

Assumptions are the lens through which we judge others, the tools we use to form judgments. Per se, there is nothing wrong in an assumption. Without an assumption, right or wrong, there can be no judgment. The problem is, our assumptions are often not based on facts. Verifying the facts requires time and patience, which are in short supply these days. So we use mental shortcuts like our beliefs and biases, to form assumptions. Wrong assumptions lead to hasty judgments, which damage relationships. It is safer to extend the benefit of the doubt and assume the best in others before judging them. Reckless assumptions about bad things in others will cause misjudgments and broken relationships. Assume in haste, repent at leisure. Assume with caution, judge with introspection.
