Hello.... (By David Wood) It is so simple to say hello But at times so hard... You just wanna say hi How are you, it's nice To see you... To look across the room And see your smile To catch your eye And wonder why We are so distant From a simple hello Anything can grow But we pass like strangers

There are many ways to say "hello" in English... Hi! Howdy Heya! G'day Hey Greetings Hi/ hello there Yo What's up? Howzit! Good day Some of these are casual, others are more formal. Some represent more than one word... But regardless of the words you choose, the best way to greet anybody is with a smile 🙂

If you want to be more formal, you can greet somebody by referring to the time of day. You may say: "Good morning" "Good afternoon" "Good evening" "Good night" Sometimes this form of greeting can be used in a himerpus or sarcastic way. E.g. when somebody wakes up in the afternoon, we may say, "Good morning" as a gentle way of telling them that it's late to be waking up! If you're not sure what time of day it is, you may say: "Good day" Let's look at some examples of situations where this form of greeting is appropriate.
