There are many ways to say "hello" in English...

Greetings Hi/ hello there Yo
What's up? Howzit? Good day
Some of these are casual, others are more formal. Some represent more than one word...
But regardless of the words you choose, the best way to greet anybody is with a smile 😃

If you want to be more formal, you can greet somebody by refering to the time day.
You may say:
"Good morning."
"Good afternoon."
"Good evening."
"Good night."
Sometimes this form of greeting can be used in a humorous or sarcastic way. E.g. when somebody wakes up in the afternoon, we may say, "good morning" as a gentle way of telling them that it's late to be waking up!
