A gift from Grandma. On a bitterly cold and snowy day I anxiously waited for the mail carrier to bring me a package from my Grandma. Last night she spoke to me on the phone in her sweet and loving voice and said I should expect a surprise in the mail soon. My thoughts were interrupted by the rumbling of a truck pulling up to the house. It must be here, I thought excitedly.

I stepped out into the frigid blistering wind and immediately began to shiver. the mailman handed me a plain brown package, he was bundled up from head to toe with a fluffy brown scarf wrapped around his neck he looked so toasty warm, I was jealous as my own bare neck was stinging from the cold. cradling my package I hurried back into the house.

I eagerly sliced through the shiny tape and peeled open the flaps of the box. Inside the box was a sea of crumpled newspapers. Nestled within the remnants of yesterdays news was a small blue box. I plucked it from its nest and leaned back to inspect it. The box was soft and velvety royal blue with gold trim on the edges. I slowly cracked open the lid to reveal the sparkling treasure inside. In the lid of the box was a note that read; My beautiful Granddaughter, I wore this on the day I married your Grandfather, and your Mother wore it the day she married your Father. It was a gift from my Mother whom also wore it on her wedding day. I would be honored if you wore it for your big day. love always, Grandma
