Andy: I will check social media to see if anyone has lost a kitten. Mira: And I’ll start making signs! Andy: I hope we find this kitten’s home! If we don’t find it, we can take her to the animal adoption center downtown. Mira: Yes! Then she will find a good home. I hope they name her “Mira” after me. Andy: Ha ha. Maybe they will!

엄마랑 데이트 “A date with mom.”  오늘은 오랜만에 엄마와 둘이서 데이트를 했다. “Today I went on a date with my mom for the first time in a while, just the two of us.” 아침 일찍 나와서 한남동에 있는 카페에 갔는데 거기서 연예인을 3명이나 봤다. “We left early in the morning and went to a cafe in Hannam-dong, and there saw at least three celebrities.” 평생 연예인 실물을 본 적이 없는데 하루에 3명이나 보다니 너무 신기했다. “I haven’t seen a real celebrity in my entire life, so it was so cool seeing like three in one day.” 특히 요즘 드라마로 인기몰이 중인 영희! “Especially Yung-hee, who’s currently gaining popularity from her recent drama show.”  메이크업도 안 하고 대충 아무거나 입고서 커피 사러 나온 건데도 미모는 가려지지 않더라. “Even though she didn’t have any makeup on and wasn’t wearing anything special and came out to buy coffee, (I recall) she couldn’t hide her beauty.” 후광이 비친다는 게 이런 거구나 싶었다. “I wondered if this is what they call having a halo.” 내가 연예인 보고 신기해하니까 엄마가 결혼 전에 남자 배우랑 만날 뻔했다고 하셨는데, 과연 그게 진짜일까? “Because I was amazed at seeing a celebrity, my mom said that she almost met a male actor before getting married, but would that really be true?” 카페에서 나와서 점심은 엄마가 노래를 부르던 떡볶이! “We came out of the cafe and then for lunch we had spicy rice cakes, which my mom was singing about!” 역시 떡볶이는 밀떡이 최고지. “Of course when it comes to spicy rice cakes, wheat flour cakes are the best.” 그러고 나서 영화도 보고 액세서리 가게도 여러 군데 구경하고 엄마랑 커플 목걸이도 샀다. “After that we also watched a movie and looked around several accessory stores too, and I also bought matching necklaces with my mom.” 저녁은 내가 아르바이트해서 모은 돈으로 호텔 식당에 갔다. “For dinner we went to a hotel restaurant with money I saved up working a part-time job.”  아무래도 내 입맛엔 떡볶이가 더 맛있었지만 엄마가 좋아하셨으니 뭐.... “Either way the spicy rice cakes tasted better to me (than the hotel food), but my mom liked it so whatever.” 엄마랑 얘기도 많이 하고 재미있던 하루였다. “I also talked with my mom a lot, and it was a fun day.”
