Join the Café where wannabe polyglots hang out. https://hilokal.page.link/5qkp At my tables there are only a few rules: 1. Be kind. 2. Be curious. 3. Be non judgmental. New 4. One person speaks, do not interrupt, mute yourself until it’s your turn. New 5. This is not a dating table. This is a language exchange table. Act accordingly. My tables are just a place to chit chat with a native speaker. Get comfortable speaking English.

At the zoo, a man and a woman walk around visiting the animals. They see a pair of monkeys and a pair of lions. The pair of monkeys were affectionately grooming each other but soon started bickering. The pair of lions were silently sitting separately. Soon the monkeys started throwing stones at the lions and the male lion time and time again protected the female lion from the hailing stones. Moral of the story: some people’s romance is out for everyone to see, but they secretly fight; others show no signs of romance but are fiercely protective of each other. What do you think about this story? What’s your opinion about public displays of affection?

My response to the story of the monkeys and the lions at the zoo. It’s an oversimplified world view about human love in my opinion. We are not like lions and monkeys. We have complex social conditioning that play into how we interact with the world. We also have romantic and sexual preferences that are not often discussed about regarding other animals. What do you think about my opinion? Do you agree or disagree?
