It’s not necessary that a book change your life, sometimes a single quote, a random line or even a word can make the magic happen. Perhaps, that’s why they say WORDS are the most powerful equipment to win the game of life. I am one of those people who is in love with slow and intentional living. However, I wasn’t like this a month ago. I was obsessed with productivity, fast living, racing against time, and achieving everything before I turn 25 so that I can call myself ‘successful’ However, things changed a little while ago when I came across these 2 beautiful quotes on life that have solved almost every problem in my life. Let’s see the quotes, my interpretation of them, and their impact on my life👉

1. First Quote; Book: Pillow Thoughts II👉

The first quote is from the book, Pillow Thoughts which says, “You can’t skip chapters, that’s not how life works. You have to read every line and meet every character. You wouldn’t enjoy all of it. Hell, some chapters will make you cry for weeks. You will read things you don’t want to read, you will have moments when you don’t want the pages to end. But you have to keep going. Stories keep the world revolving. Live yours, don’t miss out.” My Interpretation: There are times in our life when all our eyes can see is- darkness with no hope of happiness, love, laughter, or joy in the future. These are the times when we fear the future or revisit the past to keep changing one or the other incident that could perhaps change the present. I have been through such a dark phase of my life when I found it difficult to breathe and all I could wish for was to skip the moment. However, little do we realize that no matter how hard we try, we can never skip any chapter or any phase of life no matter how depressing or dark it seems to be. You may wish or find your escape either in the past or in the future but your reality wouldn’t change until you accept it. To add to your misery, you will meet the most selfish people who are going to hurt you but you have to remember life isn’t a fairytale. You will have to meet and survive through your share of bad people.👉

When I was in college, I remember for the first 6 months I hardly had any friends and the ones I thought were my friends used to spread rumors about me. Though, I feel lucky that those selfish people came into my life and taught me how to be emotionally strong, and why not everyone can be trusted and loved. After surviving through those ‘so-called’ friends, I met 3 amazing girls who made my college life memorable. As and when my girl gang became my family away from family, Covi-19 happened and the most beautiful part of my life came to an end. Even when something broke inside me while saying Goodbye to college and my friends, I knew it was the end of this beautiful chapter. Similarly, you need to understand, that you wouldn’t always like what you have but you have got to hold on to yourself because at the end of the tunnel, there is something more beautiful, bigger, brighter, and magical than what you can imagine. So, instead of wishing for a perfect world (that exists only in your mind and social media), wish for patience and see how your life becomes the most beautiful story with the most exciting twists.👉

2. Second Quote: “Touching Peace: Practicing the Art of Mindful Living”👉

“IF SOMEONE WERE to ask us, ‘‘Has the best moment of your life arrived yet?” we may say that it will come very soon. But if we continue to live in the same way, it may never arrive. We have to transform this moment into the most wonderful moment, and we can do that by stopping — stopping running to the future, stopping worrying about the past, and stopping accumulating so much. You are a free person; you are alive. Open your eyes and enjoy the sunshine, the beautiful sky, and the wonderful children all around you. Breathing in and out consciously helps you become your best — calm, fresh, solid, clear, and free, able to enjoy the present moment as the best moment of your life.”👉

My Interpretation: We, humans, are always running in a rat race with an imagination that at the end of the race there is something that will make our life complete. And no wonder, for most of us it’s either money or fame. We think once we have enough money, we will be happy, or once we have a perfect body shape, we will be happy, once we are more popular than our friends, we will be happy, or once we get a successful career, we will be happy and as there is always something on our list, we are neither happy nor fully present at the moment. So, I ask you if you are never present in the moment then ‘How do you think the best moment of your life will ever arrive?’ When I read this quote, I knew that I was waiting for my perfect best moment to happen in the form of more followers, more money, more fame, and always MORE. As all these things were materialistic and out of my control, I couldn’t be happier at any given moment. And even if I were, my happiness would be so fragile that with one low engagement, I could go back to the sad phase.👉

And that’s when I knew that happiness is right here sitting inside my heart. All I have to do is open my heart with love and happiness will be rushing through my veins. You and I make the same mistake. The mistake of locking our best moments in a dark room and giving away the key to some materialistic possession. However, what we need to realize is that the best moments are always there. When you don’t go through the day but enjoy every second of everything that you do with full awareness, it becomes the best moment of your life. For example: Instead of just sipping your morning coffee while thinking about what you need to do in a day, take a pause with every sip, feel the coffee fragrance as you bring the mug closer to your mouth, look up at the sky, see the birds dancing taking clouds as the stage, feel the brisk air playing with your hair and how beautiful all of it feels when you are fully present in the moment. Wouldn’t it become the best morning of your life?👉

The best moments of our life shouldn’t be conditioned upon something that we don’t have any control over, they should be experienced with what we have at the moment with so much awareness, love, and patience that everything brings magic in your life. Conclusion: These are the two quotes that I am living up to these days and honestly, I am loving my life a little more. As I am not conditioning anything and accepting everything with an open mind and heart everything that used to annoy me now brings joy and fun.
