1. 저는 존이에요 I am John 2. 저는 민수예요 I am Minsu 3. 저는 한국 사람이에요 I am Korean 4. 민수는 학생이에요 Minsu is a student 5. 저는 천재예요 I am a genius Do you see the difference?

1. 저는 존(이에요) 2. 저는 민수(예요) 3. 저는 한국 사람(이에요) 4. 민수는 학생(이에요) 5. 저는 천재(예요) Rule 1 We use 이에요/예요 after a noun to end a statemen or a question. Rule 2 We use "이에요" if the last syllable has a 받침 We use "예요" if the last syllable doesn't have a 받침 *받침 = If a syllable ends with a consonant, we call that consonant "받침" Ex) 그 음절은 받침이 뭐야? What's the bottom consonant of that syllable? 받침 있어 아니면 없어? Does it have a 받침 or not?

1. 저는 선생님이 아니에요 I am not a teacher 2. 여기는 8층이 아니에요 This isn't 8th floor 3. 이 사람은 남자 친구가 아니에요 This person isn't my boyfriend 4. 저는 로제가 아니에요 I'm not Rosé Rule 1 You say "아니에요" after a noun, to indicate that the noun is negated Rule2 You use "이 아니에요" when the last syllable has a 받침 You use "가 아니에요" when the last 음절 doesn't have 받침
